LBC on the Lake - Not your typical Taqueria

LBC on the Lake isn’t your typical taqueria and it doesn’t pretend to be. This park-side outpost of Lakeville Brewing Company is more about casual bites, cold beer, and lake vibes than street food authenticity. But when tacos are on the menu, they still need to stand on their own no excuses for location or clientele.

I went in with an open mind and ordered the steak tacos with corn tortillas. What I got was less of a traditional taco and more of a steak salad wrapped in a tortilla. There was a bed of lettuce, some sort of creamy dressing, and chunks of grilled steak.

To be fair, the steak was cooked well, but the pieces were large and a bit awkward to bite through thin-sliced or shaved steak would’ve gone a long way in improving the experience. The creamy sauce seemed to be the intended flavor driver, but without any lime or salsa to balance it out, the tacos felt one-note.

At $12 for two tacos, it’s clear you’re paying a premium for lakefront convenience and summer ambiance, not culinary craftsmanship. The place stays busy, and it’s easy to see why cold drinks, picnic tables, and families enjoying Antlers Park set the tone.

Still, from a taco lover’s standpoint, I can’t help but feel that LBC could step it up a notch. If you're charging above-average prices, the quality should meet or beat expectations even if you're serving tacos by the lake.
