El Camino Gourmet Tacos

El Camino Gourmet Tacos – Carnitas Taco Review

(Edina, MN)

I recently stopped by El Camino Taqueria in Edina to kick off my taco tour, and I started with a classic choice—three carnitas tacos.

The presentation was clean and inviting, with each taco neatly packed into a soft corn tortilla. The carnitas had a solid texture—tender with just enough bite, making them easy to eat without falling apart. While the flavor was good, it didn’t quite hit that "wow" factor—but for a casual taco spot, it delivered what I’d call a reliable and satisfying carnitas experience.

One highlight was their salsa selection. They offered three varieties: a smoky red, a tangy green, and a unique mesquite-style salsa that added a subtle depth when layered on the tacos. I appreciated how easy it was to grab extra salsa, which helped amp up the flavor just the way I like it.

Portion-wise, the tacos had a respectable amount of meat—not overloaded, but definitely not skimpy. Just right for a quick lunch or casual dinner.

All in all, El Camino feels like the kind of spot you can keep coming back to. Next time, I'm eyeing the carne asada tacos. Stay tuned.
